Business Licenses
All businesses operating, directly or indirectly, in the City of Berkeley are required to have a current business license for each location.
Construction contractors and rental of real property businesses were sent incorrect renewal packets for the second time by our print vendor. Corrected renewal packets for those businesses will be put in the mail soon.
Construction contractors are not eligible to renew online at this time. You should complete the General Renewal Form and can only submit by mail or in person at the Finance Customer Service Center.
Rental of Real property businesses are eligible to renew online. You can renew online or by submitting the Rental of Real Property Renewal Form by mail or in person at the Finance Customer Service Center.

- Owners of commercial rental property
- Owners of residential property with three or more dwelling units
- Owners of five or more residential rental units
- Contractors applying for building permits
