Four online forums offer chances to give input
Tell us about mental health services you think Berkeley needs, including concerns this pandemic environment has heightened - such as the lack of supports for Black and Latino people.
Many have experienced the pandemic with a rise in feelings of isolation, stress and anxiety. Others have seen their children struggling. Teens may need someone to talk to.
What you or your family experience may give a lens into what our Berkeley community needs. Ideas for any age, race, ethnicity or gender orientation are welcome. Weigh in.
We'll use your input as one element in how we decide to use state Mental Health Services Act funds, which currently support a broad range of local prevention, early intervention, wellness and treatment services.
The meetings will be held by Zoom on the following dates and times:
- Wednesday, July 22, 2-3:30pm
- Thursday, July 23, 3-4:30pm
- Monday, July 27, 6:30-8pm
- Tuesday, July 28, 11am-12:30pm

Having our own Mental Health Division gives the City of Berkeley freedom to tailor services closely to our community's needs.
Berkeley Mental Health has a significant focus on:
- increasing access to mental health services
- offering walk-in hours
- our mobile crisis team, which helps people suffering from mental health crises.
- helping people who are homeless, including guiding them into long-term supportive housing
The Mental Health Services Act is state legislation approved by voters in November 2004 that places a 1% tax on every dollar of personal income over $1 million. The State allocates these revenues to local mental health divisions, like the City of Berkeley's, for the purpose of transforming and expanding mental health services. Input from the public will help staff align this work with community values.
Let us know your thoughts on our plan for these mental health services funds.
