Adeline Corridor Specific Plan
Adoption Date:
The Adeline Corridor Specific Plan Area (“Plan Area”) is located in the southern portion of the City of Berkeley and extends approximately 1.3 miles north from the Berkeley/Oakland border along Adeline Street and a portion of Shattuck Avenue. It serves as an important gateway to Berkeley’s Downtown (to the north) and to Oakland (to the south).
The goals, policies, and strategies in this Plan are grounded in the reality that no single plan for a limited geographic area can comprehensively address all of the issues faced by a community. At the same time, a planning document like a Specific Plan is one of the best tools we have to directly and explicitly state a vision for the community and enact mechanisms to achieve it. Long-term success of the plan will rely not only on the City and other public agencies that fund and maintain public improvements and services, but on the people who live, work, and visit here. This is a community plan to support a community vision.
